About Rhonda

After being together for 9 years, I married my very best friend, Steve, in the year 2000. To our marriage he added 4 boys, I added my daughter, and together we had 3 more children. In the fall of 2009 our family continued to grow as our daughter-in-law joined our family and so did our very first grandchild! My husband and I live in a peaceful setting  about 5 miles out of East Grand Forks with our 3 children who remain at home, 3 cows, bottle lambs in the spring, 1 dog and many outdoor cats! I love spending time with my husband, our children and our grandson.

There is not a day that goes by that my family doesn’t make me laugh. We all enjoy the outdoors. My husband and I also enjoy gardening. I enjoy taking pictures and, of course, love my job as a doula! I am a part-time, home-based medical transcriptionist and lactation counselor as well. My husband’s support is instrumental in my work as a doula. He and our children are very patient, supportive and helpful during my, sometimes, crazy hours of being a doula. With their support and encouragement, I am able to pursue my dream of helping women achieve the best birth experience possible.  Empowering families to give birth with confidence is absolutely the most fulfilling work I have ever done! I feel so honored to have the privilege of joining people in their journey into parenthood.

I attended my DONA International birth doula training in Karlstad, Minnesota, in August 2005 and became certified in 2007. During this time, I have had the privilege of working with several families as a birth doula in the Greater Grand Forks and surrounding areas, Fargo,  Crookston and Bemidji.  I am passionate about educating mothers and their partners on their choices to help them have the birth experience they are hoping for. Being a doula has enriched my life in so many ways. I love seeing how birth transforms women. In November, I was able to witness this most amazing transformation in my daughter who gave birth for the very first time!  I continue to learn from other doulas, other health professionals, birth related courses and from each of my clients. It continues to fuel my passion to create a positive birth experience for all women, regardless of their circumstances or any unexpected outcomes. I look  forward to each and every opportunity I am given to support, nurture and encourage mothers and their partners during one of life’s most amazing moments.

It is my goal to assist you and your partner in achieving the birth experience you desire, however you define it, ultimately giving you the best birth experience possible.
